Mohammed Mustapha: Ekiti State Police Command denies death in detention allegations

The Ekiti State Police Command, through spokesperson SP Adeshola Olubode, refuted claims on April 12, 2022, regarding the alleged death of Mohammed Mustapha, a 28-year-old suspected cultist, in a detention facility.

According to the police statement, Mustapha was apprehended around Ado Ekiti, Ikare road, amidst escalating cult clashes in April. During interrogation, Mustapha purportedly confessed to being a member of the outlawed Buccaneer cult.

It was reported that he later died at the Ekiti State Hospital in Ado Ekiti after exhibiting violent behavior, including attacking and biting other detainees.

The statement highlighted the prevalence of cult clashes in Ekiti Ikare and mentioned efforts by the police to address the issue.

Additionally, before the arrest of Mohammed one of the teachers in Ado Ekiti Government college, Miss Famisin Eunice Tobi already came to report. The statement also referenced threats made.
