Mohammed Mohammed has officially assumed the position of Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, succeeding Ahmed Abubakar.
President Bola Tinubu appointed Mohammed to lead the agency following Abubakar’s resignation. The transition of leadership was formally completed on Tuesday, August 27, during a ceremony where Abubakar transferred responsibilities to Mohammed. This event was captured on video by the Nigerian Television Authority.
Abubakar had tendered his resignation letter to President Tinubu in a meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Saturday. The appointment of Mohammed, along with new Directors-General for the NIA and the Department of State Services, was approved by Tinubu on Monday.
