The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) has successfully neutralised nine terrorists and recovered significant arms and ammunition in Sector 3, Nigeria, as part of Operation Lake Sanity 2.
Lt.-Col. Abubakar Abdullahi, the Chief Military Public Information Officer of MNJTF Ndjamena, Chad, disclosed this in a statement released in Maiduguri on Friday.
He stated that the troops conducted an offensive operation in Yashinti Village in Nganzai Local Government Area of Borno, resulting to the neutralisation of four terrorists on July 18.
Abdullahi said that the recovered items include one AK-47 rifle, three AK-47 rifle magazines, seven rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, among others.
He explained that in a separate clearance operation across Gajiram, Marram, Tumtumari, Layinma, Kulunkiya, Gadayi Tumtumari, and Kodayi, also in Nganzai Local Government Area, the troops neutralised four more terrorists attempting to disrupt agricultural activities.
According to him, the troops rescued a 10-year-old boy, Mustapha Bukar, abducted by the terrorists and reunited him with his family.
He noted that the troops also recovered arms, including two AK-47 rifles, four magazines, and 30 rounds of 7.62mm and 30mm ammunition.
