The Ministry of Defence (MoD) says it has the infrastructure to make its Performance Management System (PMS) and Enterprise Content Management (ECM) projects work.
A statement on Saturday by Mr Henshaw Ogubike, Director, Information and Public Relations of MoD indicated that the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr Ibrahim Kana, said this during the inauguration of the Project Steering Committee and Project Implementation Technical Team for the two projects.
Inaugurating the committees, the permanent secretary charged the members to make the projects successful.
“We have experts in the ministry that can drive the process. We have directors and deputy directors from different departments who are experts and can help cascade the processes down to other ministry staff,” the statement quoted Ogubike as saying.
He, therefore, called on the PMS champions to demonstrate unwavering commitment and excellence in driving improved service delivery and achieving set targets in line with the ministry’s mandate to help drive the renewed hope agenda.
He also acknowledged that although there might be initial hiccups, the PMS champions should be resilient and consider the challenges as stepping stones toward successful delivery.
He emphasised the need for continuous training, saying, “In MoD, training will not be an issue. We can afford to be organising training on PMS and ECM every week.
Kana further said that the PMS and ECM champions were expected to lead the charge toward ensuring efficiency, productivity, and accountability across the ministry in order to achieve total compliance with government performance standards.
