Mechanic docked for allegedly damaging businesswoman’s car engine

A mechanic, Stephen Saturday, on Thursday appeared in a Zuba Upper Area Court, Abuja for allegedly damaging a businesswoman’s car engine.

The police charged, Saturday, 36 with criminal breach of trust and cheating

The Prosecution Counsel, Chinedu Ogada, told the court that the complainant Salmart Musa reported the matter at the Zuba Police Station on July 7.

He said that the complainant gave her Chevrolet 2009 model car to defendant to replace a faulty engine.

Ogada said that after the defendant replaced the engine, he criminally damaged the main engine and stole other parts.

The prosecution said that during police investigation the defendant could not give a satisfactory account of himself.

Ogada told the court that all effort made for the defendant to replace the engine parts failed.

The offence he said, contravened the provisions of sections 312 and 322 of the penal code.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The judge, Gambo  Garba admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N 500,000 and a surety in like sum.

He ordered that the surety must reside within the court jurisdiction.

Garba adjourned the case until Sept. 29 for hearing.
