Mass defection: 20,000 PDP members join APC in Benue

…As Alia announces construction of Obagaji-Okokolo-Agagbe road

No fewer than 20,000 card carrying members of the main opposition party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and other political parties on Sunday dumped their various political parties to join the State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), under the leadership of Hon. Benjamin Omakolo.

Receiving the decampees into the folds of the party at the final day of  Governor Alia thank you tour in  Apa/ Agatu federal constituency, the Acting Chairman Hon. Omakolo, described their decision as a round peg in a round hole while promising them of the party’s equal opportunity irrespective of the time they joined.

He charged them to continue to propagate the good works  that the Governor is doing for the state.

“Our champion governor, this crowd you are seeing defecting from their political parties to join APC is because of the numerous achievements recorded within one year by your administration.

“Come rain come shine, we will deliver you in 2027,” Omakolo assured.

Omakolo maintained that the destiny of every member of the party remains in the party and warned members of the party to desist from inciting crisis in the party for the overall good of the party.

Earlier the governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Alia, assured the decampees that the APC under his watch will avail them equal benefits of the party.

The governor also announced the construction of Obagaji-Okokolo-Agagbe road for easy transportation of their farm produce to urban centres while promising them of more road construction in the area.

Governor Alia reiterated his administration’s resolve to operate a people-oriented government by executing policies and programs that would have direct bearings on the people’s lives.

“My government will be a government of the people by the people and for the people which simply defined true democracy,” Alia maintained.

He further stated that his administration has trained 10,000 youths in Information and Communication Technology and were prepared to work anywhere across the globe.

In separate good will messages former member house of representatives for Apa/ Agatu Federal federal constituency,  Hon. Godday Samuel, Caretaker Chairmen, Apa/Agatu local government councils, Hon. Ochayi Alidu and Barr. Philip Ebenyakwu, all eulogised the governor for his transformation agenda in the state.

“Apa/Agatu federal constituency will continue to remain supportive to your administration for your pragmatic leadership disposition to succeed,” they promised.

They described the governor as a courageous and selfless servant of God who came to destroy the shackles of underdevelopment in the state for massive development.

Senator Barnabas Gemade in his remarks told the people of Apa/Agatu federal constituency that they were with the governor not for any political appointment but to propagate the good works that he is doing for the state and give him the fatherly protection to achieve all the good initiatives he has for the state.

Comrade. Dan Onjeh, APC Benue South Senatorial Candidate in the 2023 Senatorial election, described the governor as the champion of the masses who has demonstrated uncommon leadership posture by changing the political narrative of the state and bringing development in nooks and crannies of the state within just one year.

Onjeh encouraged the governor never to be deterred but remain focused to deliver the state from the boundage of slavery by bringing democracy dividends at every doorstep of a common Benue citizen.
