Manager docked for allegedy stealing company trucks

A 50-year-old manager, Akintola Abiodun, was on Wednesday docked in an Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly stealing two company trucks.

The defendant, a verifying manager of Transnational Haulage Company Ltd, is charged with conspiracy, theft and false impression.

He was alleged to have conspired with others, at large, to steal two trucks belonging to the company.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Prosecution Counsel, Dr Simon Uche, told the court that the defendant committed the offence sometime this year.

He alleged that as verifying manager of the Haulage company, represented by one Mr. Chika Duru, the defendant failed to investigate and verify the addresses of two truck drivers employed by the company.

The drivers are listed as Dotun Boyega and Ojo Bolarinwa.

He said the defendant gave a false impression to the company, that he verified the addresses of the truck drivers.

In the charge, the prosecution alleged that the defendant conspired with some others to steal the trucks valued at N50 million each.

The offence, he said, contravenes the provisions of sections 96, 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.

Magistrate L.J.K Layeni admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N2 million with two sureties in like sum.

He adjourned the case until Dec. 9 for trial.
