Man shot dead by suspected cultists in Osun

Some suspected cult members on Saturday attacked and shot dead a yet-to-be-identified man at Ita-Olookan area of Osogbo, Osun State.
Residents of the community were clutched by fear and scampered for safety as the attack, which lasted for about ten minutes, took place.
The deceased, who reportedly sat in front of a house where the perpetrators shot him, tried to escape but all to no avail.
It was learnt that the deceased belonged to another cult group that has had a running battle with the members that claimed his life.
Eyewitness account stated that the deceased was one of the leaders of the group that first launched an attack on the group which took his life.
The eyewitness who identified himself as Ademola Adefioye said, “those that killed the man in Ita-Olokan, were on a retaliatory mission.”
He explained that all the group members that killed their victim came to the scene of the incident in motorcycles and were armed with guns, axes, cutlasses, broken bottles, and other dangerous weapons.
After the killing, the cultists were said to have disappeared.
While filing this report, the corpse of the deceased had been taken to a morgue of an undisclosed hospital in the town while the cult members have not been apprehended.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Yemisi Opalola confirmed the incident and promised that the police would fish out the killers.
She noted that the police swiftly swung into action, adding that the Commissioner of Police, CP Olawale Olokode had summoned all D.P.Os to discuss more on the security of the state.
