Man rescues mother and child from kidnappers in Abuja

In a remarkable act of bravery, Chime Ikechukwu Emmanuel, a resident of No. 3, Dr. Friday Street, Egirin, Odongunyan, Ikorodu, Lagos State, recounted his daring rescue of a mother and her child from kidnappers in Abuja.

On the 31st of January, 2023, Mr. Emmanuel was on his way back from a conference when he encountered Mrs. Thomas BukolaAyeni and her daughter, AwolesiIremide Patience, stranded along Mpape Road.

Their faces told a story of distress, prompting him to stop and offer help. Upon inquiry, he learned that the duo had been kidnapped on the 29th of January, 2023, in Illela, Sokoto State. Unknown gunmen, reportedly speaking a mix of French and Hausa, had attacked their residence, killing several people and abducting multiple families.

Risking his own safety, Mr. Emmanuel ensured that Mrs. Ayeni and her daughter were sheltered, staying with him for several months. During this period, he advised them to leave the country, fearing that their safety could still be at risk.

“I saw the pain and fear in their eyes, and I couldn’t just drive past,” Mr. Emmanuel shared. “They needed help, and I did what any human should do.” With Mr Emmanuel’s timely intervention, Mrs. Ayeni and her daughter were able to find safety from the terrifying ordeal.
