Man rapes daughter-in-law, attempts to rape granddaughter

…Threatens to kill own son, family

This is to educate and encourage all parents to be more vigilant and take good care of their girl child irrespective of the age, whether minor or adult. Several rape and sexual assault cases have been reported by the police, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and other state pro-girlchild movements. The law and courts have also made it abundantly clear that any rape or sexual assault case shall be treated with utmost urgency and severity it deserves.

According to one of the reports that received, a case happened on 5th July, 2023 around a remote area at Jingin Olodo bank, Ibadan where a grandfather almost forcefully had carnal knowledge of his granddaughter if not for the heroic acts of the mother who managed to rescue the minor.

The alleged rapist, Mr John Oluwole Ayodele, father to one Abiola Ayodele, a poultry farmer and husband of the traumatised minor, had always made secret advances to his son’s wife, Temitayo Ayodele, a mother of four kids. According to investigation, the father-in-law had always made advances at her ever since she married into the Ayodele family in 2005.

Each time she rebuffed his unholy overtures, Ayodele, the  father-in-law, always threatened to kill her and her first son, Michael. When she could no longer bear it, she reported the matter to her husband on 16th September, 2009. The husband confronted his father with the allegation which led to threats and counter threats between father and son. However, the father totally denied the accusation and claimed ignorance of the whole affair.

Also, through investigations conducted within and around their residence, some neighbours confirmed that they heard noises on that fateful day, 5th July 2023, but they ignored it, wrongly assuming it was a family affair, not knowing that the man was trying to rape his own grand-daughter as he had raped the mother in the year 2009. However, the mother was able to rescue the child and fled with her.

This whole sordid business has caused a lot of rumour peddling, insinuations, psychological trauma and disgrace which resulted in clinical depression for Mrs Temitayo Ayodele and her husband

However, the father-in-law is a notable personality in the community which makes the case very hard to handle as it is difficult to prove the case of rape against him.

From the information gathered, the father-in-law,  Ayodele still went ahead to hire thugs to attack both his son, Abiola after he returned from his business trip and the wife, Temitayo. The two were beaten to a stupor.

This is a lesson to all parents and guardians to always be vigilant and also to be friends with our children.

Meanwhile, the father-in-law, Ayodele is under investigation, but Abiola and Temitayo Ayodele and kids’ whereabouts remain unknown till now.
