Man lands in court over theft in Osun

A 20-year-old man, Sesan Adeya has been arraigned  before an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court for allegedly ordering beverage and beer worth N109,950 and refusing to pay.

The accused person committed the offence on December 23, 2020 around 4 p.m. at the “DE-TREASURE” Hotel, Mayfair in Ile-Ife.

The Prosecutor, Inspector Sunday Osanyintuyi, told the court that the accused person fraudulently obtained assorted drinks and beer worth N109,950, property of Adewoyin Adekunle.

He also alleged that the accused person criminally damaged the railing structure in the hotel, worth N50,000.

The offence committed contravened sections 383, 390(1), 419 and 460 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.

The accused person, however, pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge bordering on criminal damage, fraud and theft

The defence counsel, Mr Leke Dada, prayed the court to grant his client bail in the most liberal terms.

Magistrate Adedotun Ayeni admitted the accused person to bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Ayeni ordered that sureties must swear to affidavit of means.

The magistrate adjourned the case till February 4, 2021 for hearing.
