An unidentified man suspected to be an electricity cable thief was found dead on Monday at Ashipa village on the Abeokuta/Sagamu expressway.
The man was believed to have been electrocuted while attempting to steal from the Mowe 33KV feeder.
The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) officials noticed a missing phase on the feeder and sent a team to trace the line for possible faults. The officials discovered that a blue phase wire had been cut at Ashipa village.
Upon moving closer to the spot, they found the dead body of the suspected thief on the ground. It was suspected that the victim got electrocuted on the second attempt to cut the blue phase HT conductor.
The case was reported at Owode Egba Divisional Police Station, who found shoes, pliers, cutlass and other tools that the vandal came with during preliminary investigation. The police later removed the corpse to the mortuary for further investigation.
