A 29-year-old man, Dahla Babajo, was on Wednesday arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court over alleged conspiracy and grievous harm.
The defendant, of no fixed address, is standing trial on three-count charge of conspiracy, grievous harm and attempt to steal.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Sodiq Adeniyi, told the court that the defendant and one Musa Abdullahi, now at large, committed the offence on January 26 at about 8.30pm at Convenant Avenue, Ado-Ekiti.
Adeniyi alleged that the defendant and one other at large conspired to commit the offence.
He also alleged that the defendant and others at large used a cutlass to cut the right wrist of one Mrs Oluwafemi Dolapo, thereby causing her grievous bodily harm.
He said that the defendant on February 13 at about 11.00am at Convenant Avenue in Ado-Ekiti, broke into and entered the house of one Dr Mohammed Oluwafemi, with intent to steal.
According to him, the offences contravene Sections 516, 355 and 411(1) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
The prosecutor asked the court for an adjournment to enable him to study the case file and present his witnesses.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.
The Magistrate, Mrs Dolapo Kay-Williams, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case until March 9 for hearing.
