Man docked for allegedly stealing fabrics worth N500, 000

A 30-year-old man, Sadiq Haruna, was on Tuesday docked in a Kaduna Magistrates’ Court, for allegedly stealing fabrics worth N500, 000

The police charged Haruna, resides in Marafa Ungwan Rimi, Kaduna is charged with conspiracy and theft

The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Chidi Leo, told the court that Malam Yusuf Jamilu of Isa Kaita Road, Kaduna, reported the matter at the Gabasawa Police Station on March 4.

Leo said the defendant and two others at large, broke into the complainant’s textile fabric shop located in Kaduna Central Market Ahmadu Bello Way and stole the fabrics worth N500, 000.

He noted that the offence contravened the provisions of sections 178 and 57 of the Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, Mr Ibrahim Emmanuel, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200, 000 with one surety in like sum.

Emmanuel ordered that the surety must provide means of identification; valid address verified by an officer of the court and also provides an Affidavit of Kinship.

Emmanuel adjourned the case until April 14, for hearing.
