Man docked for allegedly stealing cell phone from Mosque

A 34-year-old welder, Nurudeen Abdurasheed, was  on Monday docked in a Chief Magistrates’ Court  in Ibadan for allegedly stealing a cell phone from a Mosque.

The police charged Nurudeen, who resides in Moniya, Ibadan with theft.  He pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Prosecution Counsel, ASP Sunday Fatola, told the court that Nurudeen on March 11, at 1:30pm at Bodija Muslim Community Central Mosque , Bodija , Ibadan, allegedly stole a Techno Spark H cell phone.

He said that Nurudeen stole the phone from where the owner was charging it during Juma’at prayer.

The cell phone, he said, is worth N70, 000.

He said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Taiwo Oladiran, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N50, 000 with one surety in like sum.

Oladiran adjourned the matter until May 5, for hearing.
