Man docked for alleged theft of block molding equipment, other building materials

A 28-year-old man, Bayo Abimbola, has been arraigned before an Osogbo Magistrates ‘Court in Osun state, over an alleged theft of block moulding equipment and other building materials.

The accused person had pleaded not guilty to a six-count charge of theft, unlawful entry, and breach of public peace against him.

The Police Prosecutor, ASP Jacob Akintunde, told the court that the defendant committed the offense on Oct. 15, at about 5:00 a.m. in the Oke-Oba area, Osogbo.

Akintunde said the defendant unlawfully entered into a block industry belonging to one Adeleke Rasaki and stole some block-making items.

He said that Abimbola stole a block moulder, summer generator, tray, and cutlasses with bulldozer motor parts.

“The defendant also carted away two bags of Dangote cement and other items belonging to one Akinwumi Akinpelu before he was arrested and brought to court.

The prosecutor said the offense contravened sections 81, 249 (d), 390 (9), 383 (1), and 430 (1) of the criminal code cap 34 vol. 11, laws of OSUN, 2002.

The defense counsel, Mr Babatunde Akinwumi, prayed the court to grant the defendant bail in the most liberal terms.

The Magistrate, Mr A. Ajala, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1 million and one surety in the like sum.

Ajala said the surety must reside within the court jurisdiction with evidence of tax payment and passport-sized photographs, attached with an affidavit of means.

The case was adjourned to Dec. 7 for hearing.
