Man docked for alleged stealing of laptops

One 34-year-old Bello Olajide was on Friday arraigned in Ikorodu, Lagos State, for allegedly conspiring with others to break into a residence to steal two laptops worth N530,000

Olajide, whose address is unknown, is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, breaking-in and stealing.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge before an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court.

The prosecutor, Insp Christian Okonofua, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Dec. 28, 2022, at No. 18, Adesanya St., off Safuratu Benson Street, Ikorodu.

He submitted that the defendant stole HPZ Book Firefly and Lenovo A319 laptops, property of one Mrs. Deborah Omeima-Briggs.

The prosecutor told the court that only the defendant was caught as the others escaped.

According to him, the offences contravene Sections 411, 307(1)(a)(b)(c) and 287(5)(a) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Magistrate, Mrs. T.A. Shotobi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

Shotobi adjourned the case until Feb. 16 for mention.
