Man declared wanted over alleged same-sex relationship
An Islamic teacher, Ustaz Saheed Babatunde Jimoh, has been declared wanted by his community following allegations of engaging in a same-sex relationship.
Reports indicate that Jimoh fled his home after accusations surfaced about his relationship with a close friend, Kazeem Shittu.
According to sources, Jimoh was allegedly introduced to same-sex activities during his high school years. Despite initial resistance, he reportedly developed an affinity for such relationships and, over time, made advances toward Shittu, who was both his close friend and confidant.
It was further revealed that Jimoh attempted to conceal the affair from his spouse and child, but tensions arising from his secret lifestyle eventually strained his marriage.
The situation escalated in 2018 when the affair became public knowledge, leading to violent reprisals allegedly led by Kazeem Shittu’s mother and members of the Odua People’s Congress. Both Jimoh and Shittu were forced into hiding due to threats of exposure and potential harm.
Abdul Fatai Shittu, the brother of Kazeem, reportedly brought the matter to the attention of the press in March 2022 after Kazeem’s death. He narrated the events again in December 2024, shedding light on Jimoh’s alleged actions.
Fearing for his safety, Jimoh has been evading capture, moving between states to avoid death threats and retaliation from his community.
The police have since launched an investigation into the allegations, but Jimoh’s current location remains unknown.
