Man beats 40-yr-old wife to death in Ogun

Men of Ogun State Police Command on Wednesday arrested a 51 year old man, Oluranti Badejo for beating his 40 years old wife, Folasade Badejo to death.
According to statement from the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the state command, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, Badejo was arrested after a report was lodged against him at Mowe Divisional Headquarters of the Police by the younger sister of his deceased wife.
The deceased’s younger sister reported that she received information from her elder sister’s daughter that her elder mother who lives with her husband at No 7, Madam Felicia Street, Orimerunmu, Mowe had been beaten to death by her husband.
Upon this report, the DPO Mowe Division, SP Folake Afeniforo was said to have quickly dispatched the divisional detectives to the scene where the suspect was promptly arrested.
The lifeless body of the victim was there and then evacuated to the mortuary in Sagamu for post mortem examination.
The police however stated that preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect strangled the deceased during a scuffle as a result of minor disagreement.
Badejo, allegedly having realized that he had killed his wife used hot iron to burn parts of the body of the deceased, so as to look as if she was electrocuted. But unfortunately for him, their 8 years old daughter was there and witnessed the whole sad incident.
The police said it was the daughter who testified seeing her father strangulating her mother to death.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole, has directed that the suspect be taken to Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Departments for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
