Man arrested in Ogun for stealing neighbour’s TV, DVD player

The So-Safe Corps in Ogun State has arrested a 43-year-old man who robbed his neighbour.

The corps spokesman, Moruf Yusuf, told journalists that the arrest of the suspect on Thursday followed a distress call received by operatives of So-Safe Corps in Ifo Local Government Area.

According to him, officers and men of the corps in the Adiyan-Alausa-Onibudo Division were on routine patrol when they received a distress call from a resident.

The So-Safe Corps operatives reportedly swung into action and arrived in time at No. 2 Adesina Compound, Onibudo, via Akute in Ifo.

“At the scene, the victim told the officers that somebody forced his way into his apartment nakedly with a cutlass and a knife, and before he could call for help, he had carted away a plasma television and a DVD player,” Yusuf said.

The corps spokesman disclosed that a neighbour of the victim in the same building, Daniel Coker, was later apprehended by security operatives.

According to Yusuf, Coker was arrested after a thorough search that ended in the discovery of the stolen television, three cutlasses, and one jackknife in his room.

“In the course of preliminary investigation, the suspect confessed to the crime,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the corps commander, Soji Ganzallo, has ordered the transfer of the suspect and the items recovered to the police in Ajuwon Divisional Headquarters for further investigation and likely prosecution.
