The Katsina State Police Command has arrested 21-year-old Halilu Yusuf on charges of kidnapping a six-year-old boy. Police spokesman ASP Abubakar Aliyu reported this on Wednesday in Katsina.
According to Aliyu, on August 17 at around 2 p.m., the police acted on credible intelligence to apprehend Yusuf, a resident of Gezawa near Shinkafi village. Yusuf is accused of kidnapping the son of his mentor from Kofar-Sauri quarters and demanding a ransom of N2 million from the boy’s father.
The suspect allegedly kept the boy overnight in his room before moving him to another location, unaware that police were tracking him. Yusuf made an anonymous call to inform the father about the abduction.
Upon receiving the report, police swiftly mobilized a team led by the DPO of GRA, Katsina, who successfully located and arrested Yusuf while rescuing the boy unharmed.
During interrogation, Yusuf admitted to the crime. He will be charged in court following the completion of the investigation.
