Man arrested for allegedly duping client of N230,000 in Abuja

The Police on Thursday arraigned a 46-year-old man, Sunday Edet in a Karu Upper Area Court, Abuja for allegedly duping a client of two hundred and thirty thousand naira.

The defendant, who resides at Karu, Abuja was charged for criminal breach of trust, cheating and criminal misappropriation, an offence he denied committing.

The prosecution counsel, Olariwaju Osho told the court that the complainant, Musa Halla reported the matter at the Karu Police station on Sept. 23.

According to him, the complainant entrusted the sum of two hundred and thirty thousand naira to the defendant to rent an apartment for him.

He said the defendant failed to secure the apartment; rather, he converted the said money into his personal use.

Osho added that the offence contravened sections 322, 312 and 309 of the Penal Code.

The Judge, Isa Adamu, however granted the defendant bail in the sum of three hundred naira and one surety in like sum.  He adjourned the case until Nov. 20 for hearing.
