A 26-year-old man, Omisope Serif, was on Monday arraigned before an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court, for allegedly stealing 3,000 litres of diesel worth N3 million.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Emmanuel Abdullahi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Aug 5, 2022 around 09:45 pm at ATC Network Mask Company, Akintola Obaloran Ilode Area, Ile-Ife.
He added that the offence contravened section 390 of the Criminal Code and laws of Osun, 2002.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge of theft.
The Defence Counsel, Mr. Philip Fasanmoye, applied for the bail of the defendant in most liberal terms.
He pledged that his client would not jump bail, but would produce substantial sureties.
Magistrate A. I. Oyebadejo, granted the bail of the defendant in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Oyebadejo said that the sureties must swear to an affidavit of means, reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed, with three recent passport photographs each.
She adjourned the case until Aug. 22 for hearing.
