Man, 84, seeks urgent intervention as suspected hoodlums destroy property in Lagos

An 84-year-old man, Dr Albert Ndulue, on Tuesday, called on security agencies to urgently intervene in the alleged destruction of his property at Lekki, Lagos State, by suspected hoodlums.

Ndulue said at a news conference in Lagos that five of his buildings were being vandalised and demolished by the hoodlums in spite of a pending court case on the ownership.

According to him, a legal tussle regarding the ownership of the buildings is pending before an Ajah High Court, Lagos State, in suit number LD/6727/GCMW/2018.

He said that the buildings were located at Plot 8, Alma Estate, Lekki.

Ndulue is the plaintiff in the pending suit while NICON Trustees and some others are the defendants.

Justice Ganiyu Safari had, on July 13, struck out the case, holding that relevant processes were not before the court. The plaintiff consequently filed a motion, asking the court to set aside the ruling.

The plaintiff prayed, in the alternative, for an injunction to restrain the defendants from relying on the ruling pending final determination of the suit.

He told journalists on Tuesday that while the suit was still pending with the next hearing date slated for Dec. 12, suspected hoodlums had continued to vandalise and destroy the property.

“Hoodlums have now completely demolished the property,” the octogenarian told journalists.

He said that ceilings, roofs, windows and electrical fittings had been removed from the buildings while much damage had been done to the structures.

“It has been a thug of war as hoodlums have, again, invaded the property and demolished the buildings,” he said.

Ndulue called on the police and other law enforcers to intervene.
