Man, 43, docked for allegedly collecting N100,000 under false pretenses

A Magistrate court sitting at Ota Ogun State yesterday arraigned a man for allegedly obtaining the sum of one hundred thousand under false pretence.
Adekunle Oyekunle is facing two count charge bordering on obtaining money under false Pretence and stealing.
The Prosecutor Inspector E.O Adaraloye informed the court that the offence was committed on 21, November 2020 at about 2pm around Market Area Ota within the Ota Magistraterial District.
The prosecutor said the defendant was reported to have collected the money under false pretence to buy five bags of rice for one Salaudeen Taiwo which he never did.
However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.
Adaraloye said the offence is contrary to and Punishable under section 39(9), section 419 of the criminal code Laws of Ogun State.
The Magistrate Mrs O.O Sam-Obaleye admitted the defendant to bail on the #100,000 with one surety in like sum.
The case was adjourn untill March 2, 2021 for further hearing.
