Man, 38, docked for alleged N10m fraud

A 38-year-old man, Gbenga Rotimi, was on Thursday arraigned at a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for an alleged N10 million fraud.
The defendant, whose address was not given, was docked on a two-count charge of fraud and stealing.
The Police Prosecutor, ASP Clement Okuoimose told the court that Rotimi allegedly committed the offences on Nov.11, 2020 about 11:00a.m, at Nkemmese Investment Co.Ltd., No 58, Fagbemi Street, Ibiye, Lagos.
Okuoimose alleged that Paul collected the money from the company with pretence of managing his fishes and poultry which he never did.
The prosecutor said that the defendant allegedly converted the money into his personal use.
Okuoimose said that the offences contravened sections 314 and 287 of the Criminal law of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Chief Magistrate, Fadahunsi Adefioye, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N2 million with two sureties in like sum.
Adefioye said that the sureties who must reside within the court’s jurisdiction should provide evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
He adjourned the case until Jan.18, 2023 for mention.
