A 35-year-old man, Binatari Owei, who allegedly stole a Tom phone, was on Tuesday brought before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
The defendant was arraigned before the Magistrate, Mr. L.k.J Layeni, and pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Prosecutor, Dr Simon Uche, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on April 24 at the Alaba International Market in Ojo, Lagos.
The defendant was alleged to have stolen a Tom phone including MTN and Aritel sim cards belonging to the complainant, one Taofeek Akorede.
The items are said to be valued at N9,000.
Uche said that the offence contravened the provision of section 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.
The magistrate granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
He adjourned the case until May 17 for trial.
