An Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court, on Friday, sentenced a 30-year old man, Dauda Salako, to three years’ imprisonment for stealing a Bajaj motorcycle.
Salako, who resides at Oju Aremo Street, Oke Ijemo area of Abeokuta, was arraigned on a count charge of stealing.
The Magistrate, Mrs O.M. Somefun, said that prosecution had proven its case beyond reasonable doubt that the convict was guilty of the offence, as charged.
Somefun, therefore, sentenced the convict to three years’ imprisonment, without an option of fine.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, ASP Olakunle Shonibare, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on March 11, 2022 at about 7:30 p.m. at Oya village, off Adebayo Sawmill, Ajebo road in Abeokuta.
Shonibare said that the convict stole a Bajaj motorcycle, with registration number: AAB 421 VN, worth N380, 000, property of one Mr Monday Aluko.
He said that the convict entered into the compound of the complainant and stole the motorcycle from where it was packed.
The prosecutor further stated that Salako was arrested by the police, following a tip from a neighbour who saw him close to the motorcycle, with the motorcycle disappearing few moments after.
According to him, the offence contravenes Sections 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
