Man, 30, arraigned for alleged car alternator theft in Kano

The Police Command in Kano State, on Monday arraigned one Suleiman Safiyanu, 30, before a Sharia Court sitting in Kano for allegedly stealing a car alternator.

The defendant, who lives in Tal’udu Quarters, Kano is charged with theft.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Abdullahi Wada, told the court that the complainant, Mustapha Muhammed who resides at Goron Dutse Quarters, reported the matter at Mandawari Police Station, Kano, on Nov. 22.

Wada alleged that at about 7:30 p.m., on the said date, the defendant went to the complainant’s shop and stole a car alternator valued at N80,000.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Judge, Malam Umar Lawal-Abubakar, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N30,000 with one surety in like sum.

The judge adjourned the matter until Dec. 14, for further mention.
