A 29-year-old man, Bright Okhuelegbe, on Tuesday appeared before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun for allegedly stealing N902,510 belonging to his employer.

Okhuelegbe, whose address was not provided at the time of filing this report, is facing a charge of stealing.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Titi Olatoye told the court that the defendant committed the offences between Aug.2019 to Aug. 2020 at the Cedar Divine Nigeria Ltd. Idiroko road, Ota.

She said the defendant who was the sales representative of the company misappropriated N902,510, being the money generated from the goods entrusted in his care.

Olatoye said that the offenses contravened Section 390(9) (6) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, Mrs. Sam Obaleye, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N500,000 with a surety in like sum.

She ordered that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed, with the evidence of tax payment to the Ogun Government.

The case was adjourned until September. 18 for hearing.
