Man, 28, arraigned for stealing N3,000 from commercial sex worker in Ibadan

A Mapo Chief Magistrates Court in Ibadan in Thursday has arraigned a 28-year-old man, Sikiru Morufu, for allegedly stealing N3,000 from a commercial sex worker.

Chief Magistrate O.O Latunji who was the presiding Chief Magistrate had admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100,000 with two reliable sureties in like sum after pleading not guilty to the one-count charge offence.

The Chief Magistrate stated that the two sureties must be blologically related to Mr Morufu, before adjourning the suit until February 26 for trial.

The court had been told earlier by the prosecuting counsel that Mr Morufu committed the crime on January 19, at Idi-aro area of Ibadan, Oyo State.

Mr Ahmed explained that the defendant was arrested after the complainant, Ms Eniola Opeyemi, raised the alarm at the Idi-Aro Police Station that one of her customers cheated on her.

According to the prosecutor Ms Opeyemi narrated that she received the agreed fee after offering Mr Morufu her services on January 19.

He explained that the defendant, went back to the room in the absence of the complainant and stole the money and her  Infinix smart phone worth N46,000.

The offence according to Mr Ahmed contravened the provisions of section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Cap. 38 Vol. ii Law of Oyo State of Nigeria 2000.
