A 24-year-old man Abuchi Ali, who allegedly stole a car battery, on Wednesday appeared at an Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
The defendant is standing trial before the Magistrate, Mr L.J.K Layeni, on two-count charge of stealing and causing a breach of peace.
He pleaded guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, Dr Simon Uche, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on March 17, at Aspamda in the Trade Fair complex, Ojo, Lagos.
He alleged that the defendant stole a battery from an LT container truck stationed at Aspamda.
He said that the battery was the property of a complainant, one Chidebe Ebunam, valued at N70,000.
Prosecution also accused the defendant of causing a breach of peace by his conduct.
He said that the offence contravened the provisions of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
Magistrate Layeni adjourned the case until April 19 for facts and sentencing of the defendant.
