Man, 21, arrested for alleged criminal activities in OgunA 21-year-old man named Ibrahim Adamu has been arrested by the police in Itele Awori, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State.

Adamu was disguised as a scavenger of condemned iron scraps when he was apprehended with stolen items.

He confessed to being part of a duo that specialises in breaking into people’s houses to steal valuables.

The other suspect, known as Azonto, is currently on the run. Upon searching the sack in Adamu’s possession, the police found seven ceiling fans, cables, and wires.

Adamu claimed ignorance about how he obtained the items when questioned by the police.

According to a statement by the Ogun State police image maker, Omolola Odutola, Adamu confessed that two of them specialise in breaking into unsuspecting people’s houses in their absence to steal their valuables.

However, the police spokesperson clarified that the items were not condemned or disposed of by the owner but were actually vandalized useful items.

Adamu has been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (CIID) for further investigation and prosecution.

The Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, is aware of the recent increase in vandalism by scavengers and scrap pickers.

He has ordered the immediate arrest of anyone found vandalising government or private property under the guise of being a scavenger.
