The Polytechnic, Ibadan, will inaugurate a 72-room office complex built from its internally-generated revenue (IGR) at its 2023 graduation ceremony, slated for Dec. 15.
The institution’s radio station, which had secured an operating licence from National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), will also be inaugurated during the ceremony.
The Chairman of the polytechnic’s Graduation Planning Committee, Dr Mojeed Lawal, disclosed these in Ibadan on Monday at a news conference heralding the activitiesfor the convocation.
Lawal stated that the office complex, which was completed within three years, would be named after the Visitor to the institution, Gov. Seyi Makinde, who would also perform the inauguration on Dec. 15.
He further said the combined graduation ceremony would feature award of diplomas, certificates and prizes to 2018/2019, 2019/2020, 2020/2021 and 2022/2023 graduands.
Lawal said there would be a graduation lecture on Dec. 13 to be delivered by a retired diplomat, Amb. Ashimiyu Olaniyi on “Leadership Evolution: Empowering Change Agent for a Transformative Future.”
He also said that part of the activities for the ceremony would be tree planting across the institution by the 90/93 set on Dec. 14, adding that this would further enhance beautification of the institution.
“This current effort is a plausible addition to what alumni and groups have been contributing to support the academic and social development of the institution.
“The institution had received donations, ranging from office buildings, classrooms, equipment, books and scholarships, among others.
“Like Oliver Twist, we are definitely looking for more support from them. May God Almighty continue to be with them all,” Lawal said.
NAN reports that the news conference was attended by the Deputy Registrar, Exams and Record, Mr Adewumi Ogunjimi and representatives of Chief Librarian, Mr Kayode Joseph.
Others were the Graduation Planning Committee Secretary, Dr Abiodun Adewuyi, and the Chairman, Committee of Deans, Dr Bolanle Oseni
