On Friday, a Jos Magistrates’ Court ordered that a 14-year-old boy who stole two grinding machines be placed in a juvenile home for six months.
Magistrate Shawomi Bokkos quickly tried and sentenced the minor after he admitted guilt. In addition to the juvenile detention, the Magistrate imposed a fine of N20,000 and urged the boy to reform his behavior.
Prosecution Counsel Insp. Ibrahim Gokwat informed the court that the case was reported on July 1 at the Laranto Police Station by local community leaders.
The prosecutor revealed that the minor, along with his associates who are still at large, stole the machines valued at N50,000. Fortunately, the grinding machines were recovered during the police investigation. The offence is punishable under the Plateau Penal Code Law.
