The Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) has confirmed that a total of 343 students from its medical schools will be honoured at the institution’s 2023 graduation ceremony set for Friday.
The Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC) at LUTH, Prof. Ayodeji Oluwole, shared the news on Wednesday in Lagos, highlighting the students’ hard work and dedication.
According to Prof. Oluwole, all the graduating students have met the necessary requirements to earn their respective degrees and certifications. In a bid to recognise exceptional performance and encourage academic excellence, LUTH has also planned to award cash prizes to the outstanding students from various disciplines.
These awards are intended to celebrate the graduates’ achievements and motivate future cohorts to strive for similar success.
The graduation ceremony promises to be a momentous occasion, not only for the graduates and their families but also for the faculty and the entire LUTH community. It is a testament to the high standards of medical education and training that LUTH maintains, as well as its commitment to nurturing the next generation of healthcare professionals.
As the graduates prepare to step into their roles in the medical field, they carry with them the knowledge, skills, and values instilled by one of the country’s leading teaching hospitals.
The ceremony on Friday will not only confer degrees but also serve as a symbolic passing of the torch to a new cadre of medical practitioners ready to make their mark on the world.
“Prof Amam Mbakwem, a Professor of Medicine and a Consultant Physician and Cardiologist, is the guest speaker while Prof. Sulaimon Akanmu, a haematologist is the Professor of Honour.
“The graduation ceremony process begins with a press briefing down to the ceremony day, starting with the procession of graduands into hall 36 in LUTH,” he said.
