Lufthansa extends suspension of flights to the Middle East for an additional week

The Lufthansa Group is extending its suspension of flights to the Middle East for another week, starting Monday.

The company announced in Frankfurt that flights to and from Tel Aviv, Tehran, Beirut, Amman, and Erbil will remain canceled until August 21. Additionally, Lufthansa’s airlines will continue to avoid Iraqi and Iranian airspace.

This extension follows a prior suspension set to end on Tuesday and is a response to escalating tensions between Israel and Iran, which have raised concerns about the conflict potentially spreading beyond the Gaza Strip.

Lufthansa is offering free cancellations to passengers with tickets valid through August 31. This suspension affects all of the group’s airlines, including Swiss, Austrian, Brussels Airlines, Eurowings, as well as their cargo and passenger flights.
