…No crisis in Labour Party, just Abure’s refusal to accept reality — Kingibe
Senator Ireti Kingibe has thrown her weight behind the 29-man caretaker committee established by Labour Party stakeholders to conduct a national convention.
Kingibe, representing the Federal Capital Territory district, endorsed the committee at a free medical outreach she facilitated for her constituents in Abuja.
She stated that every LP member knows that the tenure of National Chairman Julius Abure and his National Working Committee has ended, and their refusal to accept reality is causing a crisis in the party.
Kingibe explained that Abia Governor Alex Otti and Peter Obi had extended Abure’s tenure by one year to recover from the 2023 presidential election loss, but Abure’s NWC has kicked against the Nenadi Usman-led caretaker committee.
“I am in sync with the Nenadi Usman-led committee and back it 100 percent. That is the way to go. Every other thing the Abure-NWC is doing is illegal,” Kingibe said.
Kingibe’s endorsement comes as the party’s leadership crisis continues, with Abure and his loyalists opposing the Nenadi Usman-led caretaker committee.
This development is the latest in a series of events that have rocked the Labour Party in recent weeks.
