Louisiana University has sought to partner with the No.1 ICT organization in Nigeria, Galaxy Backbone Limited (GBB), to “domesticate and strengthen information security in cyberspace in Nigeria.”
In a meeting, held on Thursday, August 17, at the ICT office in Abuja, Professor Aisha Ali Gombe, Director of Cyber Security, Louisiana University, affirmed that herself and her team at ready to “provide multiple trainings and skills on emerging technologies.”
Prof Aisha promised to unleash her expertise, both in system and expertise, to ensure that GBB trains its own cyber security experts, who would effectively manage operations independently and protect the tech hub from cyber attacks, through their proposed
partnership.
Louisiana State University is the first institution selected by the National Security Agency (NSA), to create and pilot a cyber clinic to assist in protecting small businesses, which are frequent targets for cyber attacks.
“Cybersecurity is the protection of internet-connected systems such as hardware, software and data from cyberthreats. The practice is used by individuals and enterprises to protect against unauthorized access to data centers and other computerized systems.”
The Managing Director of Galaxy Backbone, Professor Muhammad Abubakar also harped on the importance of secure cyberspaces in Nigeria.
