Local vigilante escapes death
…Loses son, wife, daughter on the run
A key informer of the Nigerian Army in its war of attrition with Boko Haram and other terrorists in the Northern part of Nigeria, has escaped death by the whiskers when he was ambushed alongside some soldiers during a reconnoitre.
The informer, Adegoke Adekunle Isaac, who had earlier lost a son to Boko Haram’s attacks in Kano, has been on the run since that fateful day.
According to information garnered from his friends and relatives, it was the loss of his son, Morire Adegoke, that made Adegoke become a local vigilante and by extension, an informer to the Nigerian military.
Adegoke was reputed to be very good at his work with the military, a fact which did not go unnoticed by the leadership of Boko Haram. Several efforts were made by the sect to eliminate him until the last one which almost succeeded. Since then a ‘fatwa’ or bounty has been put on Adegoke by the terrorists, which in order words, means that he should be executed or killed wherever he may be found in the country.
Moreover, Adegoke being a member of an important family in Ekiti, has been in a running battle with his extended family for selling a parcel of land which he legitimately inherited from his father.
According to investigation, some family elders who intended to convert the property to their own use were very angry with his action and bitterly vowed to deal with him no matter how long it takes.
Having become a target for execution by fatwa, Adegoke has been on the run, leaving his wife and daughter behind in the bid to escape from Boko Haram and his estranged extended family.
Reports have it that his wife and daughter are also on the run for their dear lives because of the threat of death by the Islamic sect.
