The Association of Ex-Local Government Chairmen of Nigeria (ASELGON) has advised President Muammadu Buhari to listen to the voice of reasoning coming from several elders across and set machinery in motion to restructure the country.
Rising from the virtual National Executive Committee meeting of the association on Friday, the association noted that restructuring remains the antidote to several agitation of the ethnic groups mobilising their people for break up.
The National Publicity Secretary of the association, Hon. Ademola Ojo, urged federal government to consider the opinion of Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) because he is not a card carry member of any political parties.
Hon. Ojo said “now that the demand for break up is increasing everyday, it will be better for Buhari led administration to put the machinery of restructuring in motion”.
The association suggested that it is the right time to allow former political office holders like former President, Governors, Senate President, Local Government Chairmen to assist the government to find lasting solution to the issue of break up in Nigeria.
The group said if proper step is not taken now, Nigeria may not witness the next 2023 general elections.
