The Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission, in preparation ahead of May 15 local government election has assured Political parties of free and fair election come what anything.
OYSIEC made this known while addressing members of Action Democratic Party during the primary election held in Ibadan.
OYSIEC chairman, Barr. Isiaka Olagunjure, represented by OYSIEC commissioners, Mr Emmanuel Olarenwaju and Prince Afeez Adeniyi said the independent commission is not on anyone order as they are keen in ensuring that all political parties are equally treated in the forth coming election.
“It is not possible for us to be bias, as we all know, the governor is empowered by law to constitute an electoral commission as Gov Makinde have not done beyond establishing the commission and it is an independent commission which is not under the control of the governor.
“With this, I can assure you that we are keen in ensuring that all political parties are equally treated as we want them to participate fully and Action Democratic Party have done that in ensuring that they conducted their primary election in a peaceful environment.”
Speaking at the event, Apostle Dare Ojo, Chairman, Action Democratic Party, Oyo State, applauded the OYSICE representatives for a transparent act of election and believe things are to change during their regime.
He added that Action Democratic Party, Oyo State is ready to take part of the election as they are set to kick of their campaigns in Oyo state
“We have met with OYSIEC chairman and other commissioners, we have been assured of credible and fair election, we will believe that things are to change in their time”
“ADP is ready to take part of the election, we have done our primaries and OYSIES is happy with the we conducted ourselves.”
