Chairman of Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government Council in Lagos, Mr Usman Hamzat, has presented award of excellence to two Community Development Associations (CDAs) in recognition of their outstanding performance.
Newsmen reports that the CDAs were recognised for their efforts in the execution of projects in their respective communities.
Newsmen also reports that Hamzat gave the awards during the Community Development Committee (CDC)’s first meeting, held on Friday in Lagos.
The CDC monthly meeting brings together leadership of CDCs and more than 100 CDAs in the council area.
According to the chairman, his administration is committed to delivering critical infrastructure, especially roads and other social amenities.
Hamzat commended the CDC Chairman, Pastor Samuel Opajobi, and his team for the ‘checks and balances’, grassroots support and series of advice they had offered his administration in recent times.
“These two CDAs, Calvary CDA and Kayfarm Estate CDA, had earlier been honoured with cash gifts by Lagos government for their meritorious services, after being selected among the best CDAs in the state.
“We thank all the CDAs and community leaders alike for the unflinching support given to the local government, since we assumed office in 2021.
“On infrastructural development, we want to assure community leaders that notwithstanding the bottlenecks and bureaucratic technicalities involved, our administration will remain focused toward delivering good infrastructure, especially roads, for the great people of the council,” he said.
According to him, six months into their administration, they have completed some road projects, with others still ongoing, among which is Ndike road in Obawole community.
“More importantly, we will soon start grading of roads across the local government area, while scampering for other infrastructural initiatives,” he said.
In his remarks, Opajobi commended the council chairman for making himself available at all times for purposeful development of Ifako-Ijaiye community.
He also applauded his giant strides in developmental initiatives within few months in office.
The CDC chairman, however, requested for completion of the ongoing building construction of the CDC community hall by the council.
Hamzat, in his response, assured of his administration’s support and the completion of the building soon.
