LG boss distributes 50 GCE forms to indigent students in Badagry

Mr Joseph Gbenu, Chairman, Badagry West Local Council Development Area (LCDA), on Tuesday distributed 50 General Certificate Examination (GCE) forms to indigent students in the area.

Distributing the forms at the council’s secretariat in Kankon, Gbenu reiterated his administration’s commitment to the development and empowerment of youths in Badagry.

He said that the gesture would enable the students to take part in the forthcoming 2021 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for private candidates.

According to him, the development will enable the candidates pursue their academic dreams as well as serve as financial relief to their parents.

“It saddens me when I see brilliant young people whose parents and guardians could not afford to send to school.

“My advice to them is to ensure proper use of this opportunity by ensuring that they all pass their examinations.

“Our government will continue to do more for you, if you make good use of this golden opportunity by performing well in the GCE by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC),” he said.

Gbenu further declared his administration’s readiness at ensuring that youth in Badagry West LCDA were exposed to qualitative education.

He said that his government had supported several educational programmes and recorded huge successes.

“We are not relenting on our efforts, as we will be having more programmes and projects as everything gets back to normal,” he said.

Miss Sena Ogungbe, one of the beneficiaries from Kankon Senior Secondary School, said the opportunity would enable many of the students to continue their academic career.

She promised to make the LCDA proud by recording good grades in the examination.

Ogungbe lauded the chairman for the gestures, promising not to disappoint him.

It was reported that the ceremony was witnessed by the council management staff, students and youths in the area.
