Let’s continue to promote our culture, tradition — Chika Ossai

The Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Delta State, and indigene of Afor in Ndokwa East Local Government Area, Hon. Chika Ossai, has charged the people of the local government, particularly Afor clan to be steadfast in promoting, preserving and protecting their culture and tradition, which he said, were the people’s identity the world over.

Hon. Chika Ossai was speaking as a guest at the New Yam/End of Year Party celebrated by an Ogbedigbo Afor Community Leader Chief (Dr) Augustine Agadi Ajeh.

The commissioner said that he was proud to be part of the ceremony, pointing out that Ndokwa people were synanimous with the celebration of New Yam (Iwa-Iji) which marks their traditional end of year and New Year celebrations.

While calling on the people to uphold their culture and tradition with all amount of commitment, Hon. Ossai remarked that celebration of culture and tradition did not represent ‘Idol’ worshipping. He congratulated the celebrant Chief Ajeh and thanked God for his gift of life and health.

Answering other questions from journalists, the commissioner restated the impacts of Gov. Okowa’s government on Ndokwa East Area, noting that all completed and ongoing government projects in the area formed the actualization of the governor’s electoral campaign promises.

He emphasized that as agranian people, more efforts were focused on assisting the farmers with agricultural loans, and other facilities.

Hon. Ossai recalled that the state government was kind and sympathetic to Ndokwa East people during the COVID-19 pandemic and flood cases, through donations of palliatives in cash and in kinds (materials).

He used the forum to ask for more support for the state government, thanking the people on behalf of the governor.

The commissioner restated that they fully supported PDP in the past elections, expressing confidence and conviction that the people remained parts of the party, assuring of victory in the upcoming elections.
