The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, on Friday called on all Nigerians to unite in building the prosperous nation of our dreams, saying that the country deserves special recognition and a rededication to the ideals of its founding fathers.

Obasa made this call during the 14th anniversary celebration of NewsDirect Newspaper held in Lagos.

He was honoured with the Best Speaker of the Year Award at the NewsDirect Newspaper Award ceremony.

The speaker was represented by the Chairman, House Committee on Information and Strategies, Hon. Ogundipe Steve Olukayode, who received the Award on behalf of the Speaker, said the awardee has served Lagos State and Nigeria meritoriously, adding that the speaker is building generation of a people.

He said the country belongs to all of us and we must work together to keep the country together and move forward.

Obasa emphasised the importance of collaboration and effective governance in advancing the state’s development agenda.

He attributed his success to the collective efforts of his colleagues in the Lagos Assembly, acknowledging their commitment to legislative excellence and public service.

He reiterated his dedication to fostering laws and policies that prioritize the welfare of Lagosians while promoting transparency and accountability, adding that the award reflects the Speaker’s contributions to legislative innovation and leadership in the state.

Obasa therefore called on NewsDirect to continue to reward excellent and best performance in public service.
