LCCI reassures inductees, business community of commitment to industrial devt
The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has reassured its new inductees and the business community of its commitment to continually champion advocacies beneficial to industrial growth and the development of enterprises.
LCCI President, Dr Michael Olawale-Cole, gave the assurance during the chamber’s member induction ceremony on Thursday in Lagos.
Reports that 31 organisations were inducted and some of which include Lekki Free Zone Development Company, Zenith Carex International Ltd., among others.
Olawale-Cole said the chamber had dedicated resources and energy to consistently promote and protect private enterprise development, commercial and industry activities to foster global competitiveness of the Nigeria economy.
“The efforts and sacrifice of LCCI’s visionaries, founding fathers and successive leadership to give us an institution we are all proud to be associated with cannot be overemphasised.
“I make bold to inform you that the LCCI is the only chamber of commerce in Nigeria that is appointed to the General Council of World Chambers Federation (WCF) to reaffirm the Lagos Chamber’s relevance in the international chamber movement.
“The chamber would continue to further its goal as encapsulated in our mission to promote and protect the interest of its members and the business community at large.
“We can achieve this through public policy advocacy, creation and facilitation of commercial and industrial opportunities, provision of business development service and observance of highest standard of business ethics,” he said.
He emphasised the need for businesses as the economic activities gather momentum across the world to seek out and seize the opportunities emerging in the global recovery post COVID-19.
This, the LCCI President said, involved diagnosis of actions taken, data, trend and insights on lessons and use the outcomes to prioritise strategic measures to enhance business operation and build resilience for future.
“As we formally induct your company into the Lagos Chamber’s family today, I wish to emphasise the commitment of the LCCI to the cherished tradition of high ethical standards, innovation, continuous improvement, integrity, and good corporate governance in business practice.
“As business owners and managers, though your primary obligation is to maximise profit, I charge you to pay adequate attention to the integrity of your business transactions and practices, environment, climate actions and social sustainability.
“I, therefore, enjoin you all to be committed to the core principles of high ethical standards, global best practices, and responsible corporate citizenships,” he said.
Director-General, LCCI, Dr Chinyere Almona, said the organisations’ affiliation with the chamber’s rich and diverse community would be richly rewarding and mutually beneficial.
She urged the inductees to take advantage of the LCCI sectoral groups which presented a rich platform for networking, information sharing and advocacy.
“I would like to reiterate that there are numerous benefits in the chamber for everyone so please make yourself available to tap into them and if you require any support, the whole chamber is set up to help your business succeed,” she said.
