Laziness, lack of love end six-year marriage

An Agege Customary Court in Lagos State on Wednesday dissolved the six-year marriage of a businesswoman, Kemi Olomu, over lack of love, laziness and gossiping by her husband, Bamidele.

The President of the court, Mrs Patricia Adeyanju, held that the marriage of Kemi, 39, and Bamidele, an electrician, was irretrievable.

She told the parties to go their separate ways in the interest of peace.

“The court grants the plea of the petitioner and, therefore, dissolves the union between her and her husband, Bamidele.

“They shall cease to be husband and wife; both parties are ordered to go their separate ways without any threat to life or blackmail,’’ Adeyanju held.

Reports state that Kemi filed for divorce on November 6, 2018, saying that Bamidele was uncaring, irresponsible and a gossip.

She said that she was fed up with the marriage.

“My husband does not have a job and is not even bothered.

“All he does is to gossip about in the neighbourhood which l find detestable.

“There was a time he brought his friend and family members to live with us in our one-room apartment.

“l am tired of shouldering responsibilities at home,” she said.

Kemi also told the court that Bamidele deceived her into the marriage by not telling her he never went to school.

“It was later l discovered my husband never had any formal education.”

Bamidele, however, denied the allegations and urged the court not to dissolve the union.

He told the court that he still loved Kemi.

“I still love my wife, I don’t want divorce.

“l always try within my means to pay our son’s school fees and take care his other needs,’’ he said.
