Lawmaker donates six clinics, trains 451 women health volunteers in Bauchi

A member of the House of Representatives, Mr Mansur Manu-Soro, has distributed six ambulances and medical consumables to healthcare facilities in Darazo and Ganjuwa Local Government Areas of Bauchi State.

Manu-Soro (PDP – Darazo/Ganjuwa Federal Constituency), stated this on Sunday at the presentation of the ambulances and economic strengthening kits to the constituents in Soro town, Ganjuwa LGA.

He said that the ambulances, clinics and other viable projects were executed under special intervention fund initiated by his foundation.

The lawmaker listed the projects to include provision of six ambulances, construction and equipping of six primary healthcare centers, adding that the ambulances would enhance referral services in the area.

Others included the presentation of three vehicles to District Heads of Ganjuwa, Sade and Darazo.

Additionally, some 451 women health volunteers were trained and equipped with cell phones to enhace healthcare delivery in rural communities while N7 million grant was disbursed to selected public schools in the area.

Manu-Soro said that the N7million grant disbursed to the schools was realised from N5million donation by the Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila and his personal contribution of N2million.

The gesture, he said, would complement the effort of the state government effort towards assisting the most vulnerable members of the society.

“The intervention is borne out of the need to support the segment of our population adjudged to be most vulnerable comprising women and children as well as complement the efforts of the state government.

“In recognition of their various contributions to humanity with particular emphasis to women and children, my foundation named one of the four health facilities after the Wife of the Bauchi State Governor, Aisha Bala Mohammed.

“Also, the other three facilities were each named after the Wives of the former governors of Bauchi and Borno States, Hajiya Hadiza Abubakar and Hajiya Nana Shettima as well as the Special Adviser to the President on Social Investment, Mrs Maryam Uwais,” he said.

In a remark,  Gov. Bala Mohammed lauded the gesture, adding that the state government would partner with individuals and organisations to fast track sustainable development of the state.

Mohammed said that his administration had invested huge resources towards bringing positive development to the citizens of the state.

“In spite of our party differences, the lawmaker always consulted me on developmental issues of the state.

“He doesn’t need to come to my party for me to say he should be elected because we are looking for people like him to take over from us.

“I appreciate the efforts of this important ambassador of the state and urge other political office holders to replicate similar projects in their constituencies,” he said.
