LASUTH launches investigation as fire guts ICT Unit

A fire outbreak occurred within the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Unit of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) on Thursday, with immediate response from the hospital’s emergency response team and local fire services.

The incident commenced around 2pm on April 4, and firefighters swiftly contained the blaze to prevent further escalation.

In an official statement released via the hospital’s social media account, LASUTH confirmed that “a minor fire” broke out within its ICT Unit, emphasizing that the situation was promptly addressed by the emergency response team.

The statement reassured the public of the hospital’s proactive measures in managing the incident..

The statement reads, “A mild fire started at the Information and Communications Technology Unit of the hospital at about 2p.m. on Thursday, April 4, 2024.”

“Fortunately, no casualties were reported as a result of the incident.

The hospital’s administration has moved quickly to calm any fears among its clients and the general public, emphasising its commitment to safety.

“We want to reassure the public and our esteemed clients that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure their continued safety,” the statement read.

Meanwhile, reports have revealed that hospital officials have commenced an investigation to determine the cause of the blaze and assess its impact on the hospital’s infrastructure.
